Maryam Qudus assembled this record in the back of a tour van, on a synthesizer small enough to hold in one hand, somewhere between cities while supporting La Luz. By day she engineers at Oakland's Tiny Telephone, and you can hear that studio fluency in how cleanly the loops are stacked. But the debts are older — Can, Kraftwerk, Stereolab — and what she takes from krautrock isn't the costume but the posture: a controlled openness, motifs wound tighter and tighter until the repetition starts to feel like the way a life actually circles. She was digitizing her family's home movies as she worked, catching glimpses of her younger self flickering across the living-room wall, and the album's title settles there — the mind's eye, memory and imagination doing their quiet, looping work. The raw material was a handful of crumpled diary pages. In the spring of 2023 the Swedish singer was staying in Basel with the Rhine murmuring outside her window day and night, and she wrote down fragments — about water, about the body's longing as the light returns. Two weeks later she carried the notes into a studio in Bergen, where what was meant to be a rehearsal with the West Norwegian Jazz Ensemble became, over two days, the whole record. Her voice threads through harp, winds, and electric guitar, light as grass one moment and surging the next; red, she says, is for tenderness, blue for melancholy. It is the Nordic specialty — restraint that somehow reads as heat — and Wallentin and the ensemble find the temperature exactly. This isn't music for plants so much as a plant's life taken apart and listened to. Each track on the A-side corresponds to a stage — the conditions a seed needs, the silence of roots, the way a flower advertises itself to a pollinator — while the entire B-side is given over to field recordings Wolf made at a high-altitude biological laboratory in Colorado, capped by a guided meditation from the ecologist whose research started the whole thing. It grew out of a residency in the summer of 2024, weeks spent among scientists studying how plants and their pollinators are faring as the climate shifts. The drones have grain to them; this is kankyō ongaku with teeth, quiet without being empty. The cassette ships with a packet of yarrow seeds and a fact card, which is either a gimmick or exactly the point. 這不是寫給植物的背景音樂，而是把一株植物的一生拆開來聽。每一軌對應一個階段——生長所需的條件、根系的靜默、花如何招引傳粉者、種子的韌性。B 面整面是她在科羅拉多高山生物實驗室錄下的田野聲，外加一段生態學家的導引冥想。

Muir, an LA field recordist and DJ, did something obsessive to make this one. He went digging through hundreds of death-metal and black-metal tracks, extracted only the headiest, most atmospheric seconds, and processed them into weightless drone — DJ as electroacoustic composer, sluicing genre for its ambient residue. The title names the album's whole method: pareidolia, the impulse to read a face into random matter, clouds resolving into something larger than life. So it plays like a sustained optical illusion for the ears, bone-rattling foley dissolving into psychedelic vapor, doom riffs steaming up into something nearly erotic. If any trace of the source survives, it's bewildering on purpose. "Heavy doesn't need to be deafening," he says, and the record makes the argument — that metal and ambient were two readings of the same image all along. 他幹了一件偏執到底的事：把上百首死亡金屬、黑金屬翻出來，只摳裡頭最有氛圍、最緩的那幾秒，再處理成失重的 drone。專輯名 pareidolia，指的正是大腦把臉孔投射到隨機物體上的那種錯覺——你在雲裡看見人臉的那一刻。
