Haydn's sonatas are a pianist's lie detector: there is no virtuosity to hide behind, and a single misjudged accent shows. Kozhukhin recorded a first volume in 2014, praised then as close to ideal; twelve years on he picks up Nos. 9, 33, 46, 53 and 57. The great mercy of Haydn is his total lack of self-pity, and Kozhukhin returns the favour — clean, brisk, clearly punctuated, like a sunlit room swept end to end. A clever piece of programming: the First Piano Concerto, which Mozart wrote at eleven, set beside the Twenty-Seventh, finished eleven months before his death — boyhood exercise at one end, the transparent lightness of a man near the end at the other — with the Clarinet Concerto (Šparovec on basset clarinet) wedged between. Piazzolla's tango is the native tongue of the bandoneón, yet here it is handed to a violin and an accordion — less of the acrid damp, more of the clarity of chamber music. Matejča, born in 2005 and Eurovision Young Musician of 2022, bows with an almost cool precision. Through Histoire du Tango, Oblivion and Ave Maria it can feel like hearing the dialect of Buenos Aires recited in textbook diction: the meaning intact, the accent gone. Whether that is a gain or a loss is up to you, but it is genuinely another way to listen. 皮亞佐拉的探戈本是班多紐手風琴的母語，這張卻把它交給一把小提琴和一臺手風琴——少了那股嗆人的潮氣，多了室內樂的清晰。Matejča 生於 2005 年，Eurovision Young Musician 2022 冠軍，運弓乾淨得近乎清冷。Histoire du Tango、Oblivion、Ave Maria 一路聽下來，像有人用標準國語朗讀布宜諾斯艾利斯的方言：意思都在，口音不見了。好壞見仁見智，但確實是另一種聽法。

In his Dirty Beaches years, Hungtai sang Elvis ballads bled white by reverb. This double album bends that road sharply: he chopped up old rehearsal tapes made in New York with a roomful of improvisers, then improvised over them on trumpet, borrowing Butch Morris's "conduction" method of steering a group in real time. Beneath the surface, the saxophone, drums and voices of his past drift in pieces; the trumpet rides on top as a narrator, renegotiating terms with the man who recorded them. What finally let the record close, he says, was "the removal of doubt." It is an album about making peace with the past, and it is not remotely soft. 做 Dirty Beaches 的年代，他唱的是混響裡失血的貓王情歌。這張雙專輯把那條路徹底拗彎：他把多年前在紐約和一群即興樂手的排練錄音用軟體切碎，再用小號在上面即興覆蓋，手法借自 Butch Morris 那套指揮即興的「conduction」。於是底層遊著舊日的薩克斯風、鼓、人聲碎片，小號在上頭充當敘事者，替他和年輕的自己重新談判。

This is a posthumous record. Early this year Zimmerman, 84, and his wife Marie-Claire died in a house fire in Liège; he had been at work on these songs. The album, finished in 2025, sets sparse banjo, fiddle and a circling organ against Moog and analogue synths — a pastoral surrealism entirely his own. Bowie once called him "too qualified for folk"; Big Thief's Adrianne Lenker calls him one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived, and here he covers her "Stay," singing it to his wife. The closing track is titled "Cross Walk." Nothing is milked for sentiment, and yet every note seems to know it is the last word. 這是遺作。今年初，八十四歲的 Zimmerman 與妻子 Marie-Claire 在比利時列日的家中失火罹難，手上正錄著這批歌。專輯 2025 年完成：稀疏的班鳩琴、小提琴、打轉的風琴，配 Moog 和類比合成器，一種他獨有的田園超現實。
