For a composer who spent most of his career between Paris, New York and Prague-by-memory, Bohuslav Martinů's six symphonies have always had the curious problem of sounding like they were addressed to no specific city. Jakub Hrůša — Musical America's Conductor of the Year for 2026, in his last full season as the Bambergers' chief — solves that not by domesticating the music but by treating its restlessness as the actual subject. The Bambergers play with a slightly veiled top, which suits the strain of Bohemian colour Martinů wove through these scores in his American exile; the Joseph-Keilberth-Saal acoustic adds a halo without smearing the dance pulses that drive most of the inner movements. Five years on from Changephobia, Rostam Batmanglij has finally decided to do the album that his Tehran-born family and his Washington, D.C. childhood always implied — country chord changes pressed against microtonal saz lines, what he calls "the rub" between two unfusable scales. The trick is harder to pull off than the press notes suggest, and the record is uneven: openers like "Bittersweet" hold the two systems in genuine tension; later tracks let the saz subside into the kind of folk-pop bed Aaron Dessner produces in his sleep. When it works it sounds like nothing else in Rostam's catalogue. When it doesn't, it sounds like a Vampire Weekend B-side with a more interesting backstory. 離開 Vampire Weekend 多年的 Rostam Batmanglij，第三張個人專，距上一張 Changephobia 整整五年。他這次想幹的事很大膽——把伊朗微音程薩茲和美式鄉村滑奏吉他放在同一首歌裡，他自己把這個不舒服的摩擦叫做 "the rub"。

The final entry in Tarriona Ball's balloon trilogy, and the most populated — Dawn Richard, Ledisi and Lucky Daye between them put a kind of NOLA-soul census on the guest list. Ball's spoken-word verses still arrive sounding like a fast-walking sermon, but the band beneath her has loosened: the brass entries are unhurried, the second-line beat shows up later than it used to, and at least three tracks build their grooves out of negative space rather than horns. The "last" in the title might not survive contact with the next idea, but as a closing argument for a record that has spent three releases insisting on joy as a discipline, this one is generous. 新奧爾良樂隊 Tank and the Bangas "氣球三部曲"的終章——Green Balloon（2019）、Red Balloon（2022）、The Last Balloon（2026）。Tarriona "Tank" Ball 的口白節奏沒變，那種"一邊把你拉進派對一邊罵你"的緊繃感，還是這個樂隊的核心。

Two voices, hand percussion, the Occitan language as something not preserved but used. Lila Fraysse and Caroline Dufau's third album is again produced by Raül Refree, whose track record with minority-language vocal traditions — Rosalía's Los Ángeles, Lina_Raül Refree, this — keeps growing more interesting than any single record in it. The polyphony is taut, the rhythms are nearly punkish, and the political argument is implicit but unmistakable: a language survives by being audible, not by being archived. There is a way of writing about records like this that makes them sound like homework. Tamikrest record live to analogue tape, no overdubs, because — as the Kidal-born Tuareg band have said often and bluntly — the alternative is the kind of polishing that turns desert music into world-music product. Assikel ("walk forward") is their seventh, and the most agitated they've sounded since Tamotaït. The guitar lines still trace those long, hypnotic Saharan loops, but the rhythm section keeps shoving them slightly out of pocket — as if the music itself were arguing against the stasis the band's diaspora has been forced into. The Istanbul–Paris duo's second record on the Hamburg label Pingipung is the kind of release that gets called "experimental" because no other word lasts long enough — krautrock organ drones, chanson, library-music interludes, and a salad spinner repurposed (genuinely) as a drone instrument. Klock's French lyrics walk along the line between domestic disaster and small cosmologies; Anadol's tape collages keep dragging the songs sideways. The record began life during a writer's block that was broken, of all things, by an Istanbul earthquake. Six tracks, twenty-four minutes, no overture. Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt have spent ten years refusing the question of whether Smerz is an art-pop project that uses club tools or a contemporary-classical project that uses pop voices. Easy answers the question by ignoring it. Whispered vocals, blown-out kick drums, what sounds like a sampled string quartet someone dropped down a stairwell — and underneath, a faint loyalty to the kind of slow dance-music architecture they were doing on Believer.
